City Parks

Our community takes pride in its abundant green spaces, excellent sports facilities, and enjoyable playgrounds, all maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department. With 270 acres dedicated to leisure and play, you’ll find playgrounds and sports fields catering to enthusiasts of all ages.

From the serene settings of Louis J. Jenn Memorial Park, with its fishing pond and Waggin’ Tails Bark Park, to the dynamic Civic Plaza, a hub for community gatherings, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Explore our parks, whether it’s for relaxation, sports, or simply connecting with nature and your neighbors!

Alexander Park

Located at 4902 Charney Avenue, Alexander Park is a charming neighborhood park perfect for families and sports enthusiasts alike.

Civic Plaza

Site for various community events such as Halloween Fest and A Lawrence Christmas. It is also home to the City of Lawrence’s annual Winterfest Celebration, which includes a skating rink, Winter Market, and seasonal entertainment.

Community Park

Lawrence’s largest city park, Lawrence Community Park is home to the Lawrence Soccer Complex, Lawrence Skate Park, Lawrence Community Activities Center, baseball fields, playgrounds, shelters, a sledding hill, and walking trails.

Fort Ben Cultural Campus

Site for various community events such as the Ft. Ben Farmers Market, Día Latino de Lawrence, Lagers in Lawrence, Juneteenth Jubilee, and Fiesta Lawrence.

Eugene Burns Park

This is where the Lawrence Township Football League plays their games. The league is committed to the City of Lawrence for the development of our youth as they learn life skills through football.

Explorer Park

Located a few blocks south of Harrison Hill Elementary, Explorer Park is a great neighborhood park that offers brand new playground equipment (installed in 2020), picnicking areas, a walking trail, and a shelter rental space for parties.

Community Park

Whether you’re showcasing your skills or enjoying the vibrant community atmosphere, Lawrence Skate Park is the perfect place to roll in and have fun!

Lee Road Park

This park has a playground, pickleball courts, a paved nature trail, baseball fields, and a shelter. The nature trail runs through the woods on the south side of the park.

Louis J. Jenn Memorial Park

This is a beautiful quiet park with a popular fishing pond. There is a playground for kids and a rustic lodge with a banquet room overlooking the water. It is available to the public to rent for events.

Oaklandon Play Park

This is definitely the park for you if you have any train-loving kids because it sits near some railroad tracks that see a good amount of traffic. Kids also enjoy looking at the hot air balloon design of the recently restored Oaklandon Water Tower located here.

Richardt Park

This 7-acre park offers a small playground and ample green space, making it a perfect retreat for those seeking a quiet outdoor experience. Although it’s not widely known, visitors will find a tranquil setting ideal for picnics and leisurely strolls

Veteran's Memorial Park

Veteran's Memorial Park is a well-maintained recreational area. The park features multiple baseball fields, allowing for simultaneous games and activities, making it a vibrant hub for sports enthusiasts.
